I just finished a paper test by Nihon Kiin (Go Association of Japan) and after 8months of playing (4 of them not playing because of this work business) go I'm solidly in the upper kyuu (4-1)!
I got 92 points and the range for high-kyuu is 61-100 points. 101 or better is sho-dan (1st dan).
Just a little better and I'll be sho-dan! And now I know that when ppl ask my level I can confidently say I'm 10- or even 5-kyuu (lower than this result) and still be politely modest.
